    The state advised poll workers to ask for ID to make this election a dry run.  I presume they are trying to gather evidence for the lawsuit challenging the law.  The poll workers, however, were also instructed not to deny a ballot to anyone who doesn't have ID or refuses to show it.

    My local Democratic committeeman sent out a memo to everyone on the Dem list advising us to show ID if asked so that the lines don't get unmanageable.  His take was that it is better not to make a stand on principle if there are people who could go home without voting because the lines are too long.

    No one asked me for ID at my polling place in suburban Philly, but I did see voters showing ID at the middle school my kids attend.
