The Black Panthers and the White Panther Party of the 1960s-1980s period don't exist any more.

The NBBP (New Black Panthers), founded in 1989, is still active, but recognized by a number of civil rights organizations and the Newton Foundation as a hate/bigot/racist group, due to the extremism in the group's ideology, goals and actions, even though some NBBP chapters are less extreme than other NBBP chapters.

An open letter from the Huey Newton Foundation (Newton was a co-founder of the BP) "There Is No New Black Panther Party: An Open Letter From the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation"

Bobby Seale, a co-founder of the BP, is against the NBBP. Other former BP members also disapprove the NBBP.
