  •  They way you know they are acting confident (0+ / 0-)

because the day after the election, when you try to rub it in, they pretend they have no idea of what you are talking about.  And they are on to the next talking point.

Seriously do you think any of these guys give a damn about Libya?

Really?   It is all a sham.

same thing apparently. I wasn't addressing whether they cared about Benghazi or any of the other anti-Obama memes of the day. I was talking about their confidence in winning the election today, that's it. And I believe, after spending many hours reading their blog posts and diaries, that our counterparts over there are just as convinced as we are that they are going to win. And just as convinced as we are that we (they) are paying attention to the wrong polls, and not reading them right. They think that MSNBC is as deluded as we think FoxNews is.

That is my point in a nutshell - they believe what we believe, and just as intensely - but it is the exact opposite of how we see it. They are not acting.

If you look at the pundit scores which show Romney winning big...

there is a very good reason for that.   If it got into the trickle down to the bottom of the base that Romney is going to lose, there would be a problem with turn out in red states and down ballot candidates would run into trouble.  They know the evangelical vote is soft because of the Mormon thing...so they need to have their base think there is a chance....and they might as well go big. (Republicans really don't have the same problem assuming complacency that liberals seem to have.)

Yeah, some of the idiots will believe pretty much anything but it is a strategic decision suggest they are going to win because if they don't get a respectable turnout.

Nope, the Republicans know the score...and you can be pretty sure tomorrow that even the trolls will pretend all this "Romney will win"  bs never happened.

that the confidence is an act intentionally put on as, say, a bully puts on a false image of being unafraid and utterly confident of always being able to kick ass.  A projection that may not be earnest.

You can find individual data points that prove that Romney is winning. Now, the aggregates and the trends are on our side, but don't kid yourself. We would be trumpeting single polls to prove our side is winning if the shoe was on the other foot. They don't have a monopoly on confirmation bias.
