it's better to focus on reality than to be deluded.

Why reflexively believe the outcome of every game of telephone that ends up on the rec list?

A couple people have to cast provision ballots, they talk to someone on the radio, a listener on the radio writes a diary on DKos, and suddenly everyone in the comments of that diary gets all panicked about election theft. It's just weird that people have zero skepticism of what they read on the Internet.

Mark my words, we will win Ohio, and by a lot, and hopefully that will cause people to calm down and have a little bit of faith in this country's ability to conduct an election.

It's probably because I am doing election protection work this cycle, so I'm very much on the look out for issues.  As you correctly note, most such rumors are overblown or just out and out wrong (for example, see the lovely piece about George BUsh mistakenly voting for Obama because he was confused about his ballot!).  So, I'll admit I'm a bit on hair trigger alert for these kinds of things.

I think you are entirely right that it will turn out to be just the normal kinds of screw ups that happen when a shambolic system runs an election for 300 million people.  For example, it's looking like this provisional ballot business happened because the registrar may have sent out a bunch of absentee ballots unsolicited (by mistake it seems?), such that the recipients are listed as having voted.  Thus, they have to vote provisionally unless they have their absentee ballot available to be handled however Ohio does.)

I appreciate you being the voice of reason!  We DEFINITELY need more of that here!
