  •  Just did the stats for my mother (age 93) (0+ / 0-)

I'm so glad she lived long enough to vote for PBO a second time.
Now she can retire with a winning (10/9) record!

    1948    Truman    Win
    1952    Stevenson
    1956    Stevenson
    1960    Kennedy    Win
    1964    Johnson    Win
    1968    Humphrey
    1972    McGovern
    1976    Carter    Win
    1980    Carter
    1984    Mondale
    1988    Dukakis
    1992    Clinton    Win
    1996    Clinton    Win

    Have you noticed?
    Politicians who promise LESS government
    only deliver BAD government.

She is pleasantly retired in Santa Barbara (and Ronald Reagan, who as Governor  tried to balance the state budget with HER CA State Teachers' Retirement Fund, is...deceased), and must have followed exactly that voting pattern (not certain if she voted in 1940, since her birthday is in October).

Her younger sister is a life-long LWV member, and is still fond of saying "Don't blame me [for Nixon]: I voted for Helen Gahagan Douglas!"  Both are UCLA alumnae.

My personal voting record starts in 1976 with Carter, so I'm exactly 50-50.
