    provisions of Prop 13, even though those are problematic in some respects. That would indeed be unpopular. But the 2/3 vote on taxes applies to all taxes, not just property tax, and it does freeze up the government. I don't expect action on it, but it is not inconceivable for that provision to be repealed, just as they recently removed the 2/3 vote requirement to pass a budget.

      Scuttlebutt going around says that some legislators are in favor of uncoupling commercial properties from prop 13. Sure, keep residential properties the same but allow commercial properties to go up with the market.

      As an architect, I have many clients who would do more improvements on their homes but don't because it would trigger a reassessment and blow their prop tax that's been frozen at 1978 levels.
