  •  As a healer type... (16+ / 0-)

You can look at Scalia and see his potential health problems.  I know the gene type, Italian, and the typical health problems they encounter as I watched it in older members of my family.

First there is high blood pressure.  I can see it in the kind of swollen redness of his face.  He looks like if you pricked him with a pin his insides might burst under the pressure.

Besides a little hunting, he's not extremely physically active.  These are the types of guys who have a heart attack while out hunting.  Keel over dead before the first responders can even get there.

I don't know, I look at him and I just don't see a guy who practices moderation... who eats lowfat, who drinks less than he did when he was younger, who walks the block or even the treadmill.  I know his healthcare is great but his hubris is even greater and I'm sure he waves away his doctors advice.

In addition, the diet that I imagine he eats, from the looks of his gut, is not the kind of diet that protects against cancer.  I'm not seeing lots of broccoli on his plate.  If there is a salad there, it's smothered in blue cheese.

Just saying.... not saying that I'm wishing any of this.... oh who am I kidding, it's about as plain "mean" as I get, but yes, I'd like to see him gone, quickly, unexpectedly, with profound gratitude for the seat it would open up for PBO to fill.

Because the other Justices people mention President Obama replacing?  He'd likely be appointing someone less liberal than the existing Justice, just like what happened in the first term.

Fact is, the Supreme Court is more conservative today than it was when President Obama was sworn into office.

It's better than it would have been under McCain, without a doubt.

But it's also more conservative than it was.  And if Justice Ginsberg retires I expect that trend to continue.

The only hope we have of the court recovering its conservative slide and bending at LEAST back to where it was when President Obama took office is if Scalia is out and the President gets to appoint his replacement.
