Richard Carmona's staff is strangely unappreciative of the idea that he should unconcede.

I could barely get the interest up of the staffer I talked to, who said, in a bored sort of voice, "well, it hardly matters, the vote count will decide the election."

I was stunned. I said, "THAT IS MY VOTE on the table. And there are 600,000 of them. Each one could have a Senate vote that impacts this race!"

PLEASE CALL CARMONA'S office, and don't take no for an answer. He needs to step up and unconcede this race. For the sake of those of us who haven't been counted yet.

And if you get that woman who doesn't give a shit, ask to speak to someone else with a bit more spine.

    •  Also, we need to remind them... (0+ / 0-)

that it's not so simple as waiting for the count, because the concession is discouraging conditional provisional voters who may only have until next Tuesday to present ID at the county recorder's office and who presumably won't bother if they think all races in their area are decided.

I called and delivered this message to someone significantly nicer than the woman you spoke to, but it would help for others to do so as well.  She mentioned that a lot of the provisional ballots are from (Latino-voter-heavy) West Phoenix, but only partly seemed to appreciate the potential significance of this fact.

The Phoenix office is apparently closing today and they will be moving everything to Tuscon, so anyone who wants to use the Phoenix number should call soon.

      •  I hope more people call. (0+ / 0-)

I can't think why this isn't banging their bell.

SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND BALLOTS? Each one potentially with a Senate vote?

or thinking the election is over...I convinced my neice to follow this up more.  She is a first time voter who registered to vote this year after her 18th birthday (in August) but when she got to the polls Tuesday and her name wasn't on the list -- she voted provisionally...she would have never had felt the need to go to the recorders office if it wasn't for this post and me seeing it... and me telling her about it... I have told her that if she needs a ride to the office I will take her -- we are going tomorrow/We are in Pima Country
