  •  It's the GOP's positions, "stupid." (0+ / 0-)

Sorry for the reference to Carville and his comment about the economy (he was correct, but he's still an egotistical ass) ...

... but it's the GOP's positions on issues that matter to the young, minorities, women and smart people that will keep conservatism - at least Tea Party and the Far and Farther Right conservatism - from attracting the shifting American demographic.

We don't like voter suppression. Everyone should be able to vote, no matter they decide to vote for.

We don't like discrimination based on gender, skin color, religious beliefs, race, accent, sexual orientation, etc.

We don't think self-deportation makes any sense, and we should accept immigrants who are contributing to the country's welfare.

We don't like a party that touts "Freedom" at every turning, but then statutorily directs doctors to perform invasive procedures and what to tell a patient, warranted or not.

The Social Security safety net has been there for us since 1935, and Medicare since 1965. Sure they can be changed "with the times," but voucherizing is radical. Medicare funding does need addressing and Obamacare heads in the direction of reforming health care. We need smarter, wiser people working on this than the cut-and-slash Tea Party zealots who tried to take the US hostage in the last debt ceiling debacle.

And the GOP are hypocrites. They watched Bush & Co. run up debt with tax cuts that didn't produce observable economic growth, then screamed about the deficit burden when a Democrat got elected.

Is there really any issue room for Republicans to hug the groups its pundits now say it needs to continue as a political force? I severely doubt that. The GOP is cooking its own goose.

Obama and strong Democratic majorities in 2012!
