    got more liberal as they got more mature, & saw what was happening & how it affected their lives, & realized they didn't have to swallow what their parents taught them.

    Totally unscientific, but of all my conservative friends, maybe two came from liberal upbringings. But at least half of my liberal friends came from conservative backgrounds. Anyone else have that experience?

      And was very non political until the Clinton presidency. My main issues were social, as I always had many friends of every race and several gay friends. Both of my siblings started following politics about that time also. After discussing quite a bit with our families, we convinced both of our parents. They didn't always vote liberal, but they did presidentially and at least split their ticket.
