    as Granola-Land - you know, the land of fruits, nuts, and flakes - but it's actually only liberal starting from Los Angeles and going up the coast. Go sixty miles inland from anywhere on the coast, and you might as well be in Redstate.

      and even down in LA, you have to kind of hug the coastline to stay in the Blue, and don't go too far South either. It's a very stratified state. I know we were discussing this the other day, but it's something that folks don't quite understand: Coastal California is the deepest shade of Blue. Fifty miles or so inland, it starts to look more or less as Red as any Southern State.
