  •  Usually, it's projection. (10+ / 0-)

In Rove's case, I don't think that fits.  He's too smart.  And too amoral.  I really get sociopath vibes from Rove.  (And I've worked with dozens of sociopaths as a counselor, so I know the vibe.)

I think with him it's more a case of his consciously manipulating the projections and delusions of the GOP base -- purposely trying to encourage and enflame them by starting this kind of cynical belief among them -- all for his own selfish ends.

    •  rove smart? (3+ / 0-)

doesn't really look that way from where I sit.

those guys are actually dump. between twitter, facebook and the internet in general, people are a lot smarter than the right wing thought.

the change in the demographics was one thing but the change in social media since the last election was completely misunderstood and underestimated.

mittens=edsel. no matter how much money is spent to promote it, if the product sucks, no one will buy it.

... which strikes me as slightly different from smart.

For example, I would say George Bush was definitely shrewd, but definitely not smart.

Rove is shrewd, in that way sociopaths have of being good at reading people in order to maximize their manipulation potential.
