  •  Not that much $ compared to not spending it, and (5+ / 0-)

who else do you go to? You have to run the experiment to know where to make the adjustments next time. It was $ well spent if only to buy the loyalty of the hired help.

    •  They just spent their last years tax break... (0+ / 0-)

and were looking for a future jack pot. That can be so disheartening.
However, in a way Rove is right. Every time they came up with another way to suppress the vote, we told the people what was going on. At first the majority of Americans gave them the benefit of the doubt but after a constant drip became a deluge of stories about the hardship to the elderly, those in rural areas or those who were for any reason immobile or incommunicable definitely were affected by new voting rules directly prior to an election and people started saying that's not right. But it was pictures of long lines symbolizing the continued disrespect shown by those in government towards people of color and low influence that really hit. Coming just as  gubernatorial antics in Florida and the grandstanding failure of the Ohio R's made obvious what was naked voter disenfranchisement, and suddenly, silently the majority of voters just wouldn't swallow the crap any longer.
So, Karl was right, we showed what he was selling and a lot of those fence sitters fell off the other way, suppressing the vote he had guaranteed. I feel dirty... NOT
