  •  My state did something right? That older black (18+ / 0-)

couple I was talking to a couple of weeks back at the auto repair shop knew. We were talking about the election and attitudes towards blacks and I said maybe Florida might go to Romney, unfortunately.

They said, no way, Florida is going to go for Obama. She looked as if she had superior knowledge, just the look on her face. I guess she knew that the black population here was going to come out strong and stand in line as long as it took! They had it covered, perhaps with prayers as well. I must say I said a few myself.

What a relief. If you lived in Florida you might better understand that this seems a miracle.

      contacted her five times.

My take-away from this election:  Community organizers know how to run campaigns.  In so much of the country, all we saw were big loud signs for the other side, the visual equivalent of yelling and screaming.  I took my elderly in-laws to church and for months all we got was an earful from the priest about religious freedom and all this pressure to go to anti-abortion prayer vigils.

All that sound and fury, all that smoke, and all the while the real work was elsewhere and so much more quiet.  I realized this when the election came close and I started volunteering, and when I saw those lines in Milwaukee at the polls.  Our side was not as flashy or as noisy, but damn... we need to figure out how to build on this astounding voter infrastructure we've built.

People, older people, not easy, standing there hour after hour! They were angry and determined. It may last a while here, all the voter suppression has made voting seem more important than ever.

I'm glad all that preaching didn't work in Wisconsin!

is Very Disappointed.  She posted on her Facebook, "doesn't anybody remember the past four years"?  I exercised supreme restraint and did not comment in any way.  I didn't even post, "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" like I wanted to.
