  •  Will Obama continue as compromiser in chief? (8+ / 0-)

and the main stream Democrats follow along?

here is a test of daily kos

can a column by Glenn Greenwald be heard?

Glenn writes about the historic victory this week

then he lays out a 6 step process of compromise which has been used by Democrats to either enact, or to be strongly influenced by the Republican agenda.

This diary by teacherken boldly says that the Grand Bargain is unacceptable.

Is the daily kos community going to hold Obama's feet to the fire, and the Democrats??

How hard is it to declare from the mountain tops that the Republicans risk the full faith and credit of the USA by holding up the budget? Call Out those who are advancing an ideology that harms the country.

How hard is it to declare from the mountain tops that climate change threatens civilization and that anti science harms the bio sphere?

Please read Greenwald's 6 step program and make sure that the Democrats act in a way that the legislative branch moves from historic low ratings. It isn't that hard to move when you are at the total bottom.

    Here is Glenn's article

Obama and progressives: what will liberals do with their big election victory?
With fights over social security, Medicare, ongoing war, and other key progressive priorities looming, what will they do with their new power?

I would be for holding Obama's feet to the fire as long as the heat is turned up higher on the Republicans.  During the negotiation, we need to invest most of our efforts exposing the obstructionists.  With the ACA we squandered most of our energy on blasting the President - and that robbed him of his political capital during the negotiation process.  We panicked and turned on him.  He took more heat than Lieberman and Nelson and that is wrong.  It was counterproductive.  If we're going to have high expectations for the President we need to also raise America's expectations on the fuckwads who work tirelessly to sabotage the public and divide our party.  So let's be smarter this time.
    •  I hate to say it, but I think that Greenwald (11+ / 0-)

is likely to be the Nate Silver of how this unfolds. Dems are forever more in fear of imaginary political blowback than of actual policy consequences. If the Iraq War vote were held today I swear I think Dems would vote for it again.

They talk tough--sometimes--but they almost always fold.

That 2am call was a very bad harbinger.
