    socialist. They just don't know it. In part, it's because they confuse nationalism with socialism. They don't want to be told what to do by Washington, but getting money from Washington in fine and letting their states' political leaders distribute it is fine, as well.
    It really isn't necessary for individuals to collect a lot of dollars, if most communal services are free. But, what the private sector mavens don't seem to understand is that in handing communal functions over to private corporations, they are giving up the economies of scale in dealing with necessities for which we organized public corporations in the first place. Private enterprise is fine for the frills. Public enterprise is needed for the core.

    We organize governments to provide benefits and prevent abuse.
