  •  What a brilliant idea! (5+ / 0-)

Obviously the best way to save your business/capitalism from Obama is to close shop for a day in order to mourn his reelection.

    •  It is the apocalyptic nature of tea party (4+ / 0-)

propaganda.  If you spent some time monitoring tea party blogs before the election, one thing that stood out was the end of the world way they described a second Obama term.  To read some of these panicky posts you would think Obama, all by himself, had the power to completely reshape the economy, bring in foreign troops, arm the UN with thousands of black helicopters, and miscellaneous other great and terrible deeds.  I've wondered if the apocalyptic way in which Obama is described is connected to the Christian fundamentalist faith that seems prevalent in the TP movement.  If they don't somehow mentally transpose Obama with the anti-Christ so that his second term can then become the apocalypse.  Blind speculation on my part and I'm certainly out of my depth in speculating about this, but I've wondered.

as they were four, eight, or sixteen years ago, their freakout over Obama's sudden radical transformation of society IS pretty bizarre.

I guess it took them a long time to notice the 60's happened.  And that hippies all got graduate degrees and started running substantial chunks of society.

An extra 3% in taxes is not going to stop the Daddy Warbuckses from draping their wives and/or mistresses in sparkly things or buying themselves big fancy watches. Trust me, I know.

I'd be willing to bet most of his business comes from more moderate income customers anyway, and they won't be affected by the tax increase.

      Hope they all stay away.

The day GWB won his second term, I had to attend a freaking "Seven Habits" seminar that my boss had insisted we all sign up for.  I was in deep, deep grief and I was supposed to be making happy-smarmy-management talk about maximizing my human and business potential.  When I was supposed to share some kind of happy-talk, I burst out with "I can't think about that right now.  I'm too upset about this election.  I feel that history will judge my country harshly for this day."  Everyone stared at me like I was some kind of two-headed freak.

And, better than most wingnuts he seems to have some level of acceptance that the election was legitimate and that  elections have consequences:

"He has every right to get his agenda done now," Lyons said. "He's been put in by the people and that's what he should do."   .... He worries that Obama will raise taxes on the wealthy people who patronize his jewelry store.
Of course, wealthy people were taxed to a level that would currently be considered to the hilt, during the pre-Reagan years, and I never heard that it kept them from buying jewelry.

...needs to stop watching FOXY news and listening to right wing radio. His life would be more peaceful and prosperous.
