    ... without those other superstitions and prejudices to exploit. They might pick a different menu of subgroups to hate and suppress each time around, but the method is usually about the same.

    I suppose they could try to teach a few hundred million Americans to think like one Austrian economist. Seeing some recent textbooks, it seems they might even be trying it now. But that seems like the long way around, compared to the usual, "Look at that shifty outsider coveting your stuff!"

      I agree that the origin of the social junk was probably their inability to get the masses to sign up for simple plutocracy.  But history repeats as farce and we're due.

        But, I prefer the kind where professional writers hire professional actors, and no actual economies are destroyed in the production. Allowing farce writers to hand half-written scripts to those non-union cut-rate actors in Congress is an unfair externalization of their production cost.
