    Both parties' platforms included a plank that said that if the Puerto Rican people vote for statehood, the party will support it.

      May I point you to the vote on the 1997 Young Bill on Puerto Rico statehood.

      The planks have been dutifully ignored for decades.

        I know both parties have all but ignored those planks in their party platforms.

        However, I was responding to the poster above who wanted to force the GOP to take a position on the issue by pointing out that they already have taken a position.

        Now the question is whether that position will translate into action, or whether it's just lip service.
