    polls was a dangerous game when Kerry lost.

    So it was obvious here that Republicans were deluding themselves, and saying many things that we did in 2004: e.g. "undecideds always break for the challenger," "the incumbent can win with favorability under 50%," "we have the enthusiasm," "look at those crowds," etc.

    We learned a lesson from '04 and learned not to cherry-pick polls and to read them in a more sophisticated way. Whether Republicans will learn the same hard lesson from this campaign is not clear. Given their reluctance to deal with reality and actual data, they may just continue to float on that cloud.
