I do believe there is a new sheriff in town.  This will not be the same man we saw first term, so we need to pay closer attention to what he is really saying.

I'm also hoping that spending time with Bill Clinton has helped hone some of his political skills, and given him a few pointers on dealing with fiscal cliffs and government shutdowns. I think PBO is well prepared for this, and if the repubs take him for granted, they will be in for a big surprise. It already looks like they are a little scared by trying to get in front of the issue, and I got the feeling that they are being lead into a setup.  Guess we'll see.

is the triangulation Clinton did, which resulted in some really bad things like Glass-Steagall repeal and welfare repeal. Of course, the Republicans controlled both Houses of Congress, but Clinton could have vetoed bad legislation instead of taking credit for it.

I have a feeling President Obama will take a different path, partly made possible by Democratic control of the Senate for at least the next two years and, one hopes, at least some weakened of the filibuster rule (I doubt it will be eliminated, unfortunately).

leader all along.  We wouldn't be celebrating his re-election if he hadn't been clever enough to force the Republicans to reveal their true colors.  Instead of yelling about how he let the Republicans win ANOTHER extension of the Bush Tax Cuts we should have been cheering that once again the Republicans have been shown for what they really care about.

I'm not looking for a love that will lift me up and carry me away. A love that will stroll alongside and make a few amusing comments will suffice.
