presumably, lawyers all over Washington state are now scrambling to review the new measure and whether it could be applied to their clients' cases. I imagine the judiciary there are going to be reading up on the subject in the near term as well....

    •  Not true - "jail" includes overnight (3+ / 0-)

Anyone could be thrown in jail overnight, and in some cases not released for days, depending on the jurisdiction, even for being in a car which is found to have a pot seed or joint in it.

The Supreme Court has made it possible for every passenger in a car to be thrown in jail, just because one person had pot on them.

They can be kept in jail for hours or days, depending, even if no charges are filed against them.

Not only that, but police will often make false charges, such as resisting arrest, etc. etc., and they can do so based on a whim.

Police can pull a driver over for no good reason, scare the hell out of them and sometimes get what they want, and most victims never seek or receive recompense for it, as it is his word against hers.
