  •  The interview is, retroactively, hysterical (9+ / 0-)

I don't know if Stewart had any suspicions about them, but time and again (started with discussion of her being "embedded") it was -- I presume unintentionally -- hilarious.

What bothers me more than the effect on Petraeus is the effect on other women in the professions, who so often get suspected or accused of such things even when they are not true.  This will just make that phenomenon worse.

...publicly questioned the jobs report a few weeks ago on his twitter account, accusing President Obama of massaging the numbers (which was ironic b/c Wall Street accused him of massaging his earnings report when he was CEO).

The woman in question is now his wife.

        •  What names to conjure with! (0+ / 0-)

Bill Agee, it was, and Mary Cunningham. He was CEO of Bendix, a mid-sized conglomerate. She was his executive assistant, fresh out of Harvard with her MBA. Then he promoted her to V.P. of Strategic Planning, and soon after everybody figured out what was up.

That was back in 1980, and his Wikipedia entry STILL features their denial of an "alleged" affair. No confession, but how much evidence is required in these matters? A Board member of Bendix was asked how they knew there was an affair, and he admitted, "No one has witnessed penetration." Two years later, he was divorced and they were married.

The bubble world of the Romney campaign had nothing on the reality denial level reached by Bill and Mary. To be fair, they both seemed like nice people, just more than a little messed up.

BostonBilly, thanks for bringing back the memories.
