    is that this also implies the sequestration cuts would happen. While it would be great to see the defense cuts implemented, there are also cuts to social programs. Restoring those cuts would require compromise from the Republicans and we all know what that means: more tax cuts for rich a-holes.

    Also those cuts are going to impact the economy (even the defense cuts) and that's a tough pill to swallow after winning an election on creating jobs.

        They're part of the "fiscal cliff" everyone is talking about so they are part of the negotiations that the beltway expects to include an extension of some or all of the cuts.

        But if "do nothing" is the strategy, the sequestration cuts would likely be included in that path as well, and would therefore take effect.
