  •  I think what is so weird about (9+ / 0-)

conservative dreams is that they, somehow, someway basically all have to be imagined and approved through the mind of Limbaugh.

I was thinking about this the other day- I should probably diary it- and Rachel Maddow provides a good counterexample.   Rachel is erudite, eloquent, and aggressive.   But nobody on our side would hold her up as a spokesperson on science or culture or how Republicans think.  She is a top commentator on politics and political science but she relies on experts to educate herself and us on things she's not mastered.

Not Rush. If you listen to his show and then observed GOP political behavior- from the state level to the national level- it's pretty uncanny how Rush is the GOP expert on everything. EVERYTHING.  Politics, culture, feminism, climate, relationships, sociology, religion.  There's simply nothing that he says that, up to now, doesn't go.   It's such an odd, brittle system and one he'd probably rightfully ridicule if he saw it playing out in an Afghan tribal area overseen by an omnipotent warlord.

Yet, in our modern democracy, he speaks with absolute final authority on every and all topics that a Republican is allowed to contemplate.

It's the most amazing and precious thing and I hope it keeps on keeping on for 10 more years.

From Neocon to sane- thanks to Obama- and Kos.
