Organizing for America morphed into Obama for America, and now I hear rumblings that it may dissolve. That would be a shame. I know a fair number of folks are already looking forward to 2014, and it would be nice if there was some national coordination. I guess there are other official Democratic national organizations, but OFA is the first one that I ever felt like a part of. Back in spring, the script ran, "Organizing for America is a grassroots organization begun by President Obama to blah blah blah," something about engaging voters and educating them on the issues. The grassroots concept really did draw people in.

organization. It is huge and has grassroots contact all over. We couldn't have done nearly as well here in IA. Unlike '08, we had 60 some field offices to cover all the 99 counties. We kept our work quiet and steady. The republicans thought we were not being effective because they never heard us boast of our work.

Volunteers were the key. During the final 4 day push, our high school vols said some kids went to the repub campaign office and got paid $18/hr to canvass for them. Money doesn't buy you everything you want.
