      The situation was indistinguishable from a classic honeypot op.  And that everyone in the military & intel community is warned against those, so both of them should have known better than to fall into something that looked like one of those.  

      That is not the same thing as saying that it was indeed some kind of honeypot run by some group, much less the Machiavellian machinations of a palace coup.  

      As in, a police officer busted for drunk driving, who should darn well have known better.  Not the same thing as suggesting that the officer was deliberately fed alcohol by someone in order to cause them to get busted.  

      We got the future back.
