The final tally — still considered unofficial — put Murphy ahead of West by 2,429 votes. Overall, Murphy captured 166,799 votes to West’s 164,370 in District 18, which spans portions of Martin, St. Lucie and Palm Beach counties. An automatic recount is triggered by a margin of 0.5 percent. Murphy’s lead gives him a .7 percent advantage. All ballots in Martin and St. Lucie counties have been counted.
    •  So he can't demand a recount (and get one). (4+ / 0-)

All he can do is claim fraud.  Good luck with that.

      •  He can still demand a self-funded recount. (9+ / 0-)

It's only automatic, and paid by the taxpayers, when the margin in less than 0.5%.

I have no doubt that West will!

      •  But his supporters are getting all Rove-y! (6+ / 0-)
West’s supporters were far from ready to put the election behind them. Throughout the night more than dozen West supporters remained at the supervisor’s tabulation center in Riviera Beach waiting for the final results.

“I completely disagree with everything Mr. Murphy’s representatives are saying,” said Jeffrey Scott Shapiro, a Boca Raton lawyer volunteering for the West campaign. “I think it would be a serious mistake and it would be unfair to the voters to presume anything at this unfinished stage.”

      •  I live in S. Fla, and I can tell (3+ / 0-)

you that EVERY election down here has the taint of some amount of fraud. Thus, while there was no organized effort on the part of Dems to throw this race, it won't be hard for West to show that somebody somewhere didn't do this or that right. His own poll "observers" were so aggressive on election day that the cops had to be called at at least one venue. The level of competence at running elections down here is always low; add in a crazy candidate and his crazy supporters and you have the recipe for all sorts of mischief. There is no way that he won, but I don't see West conceding any time soon. Hope I'm wrong.

to really rally against Scott and all of those people standing in line should file a 350 for voter suppression.
There has to be a real ..very real push to shake the Skeltor up.  We have had it with this crook and we now have some chance of sending a message to the crazy legislators as well.
