  •  I've taken in a lot of strays and at least one of (11+ / 0-)

them was about as feral as I can imagine a cat being. Humans and everything about us seemed totally strange to him. In fact, getting him into my apartment was just luck. It took quite a while, but in the end he wound up being really affectionate, but for the first week he would barely come out from under the bed. I just left him alone because I didn't want to terrify him more. Poor fellow. I didn't have him very long because he already had FID when I took him in. He was missing most of his teeth.

I have no patience with people, but tons with animals. Go figure. I think it depends on what people expect from their pets. From a cat's point of view, I'm probably a pretty low maintenance human.

As I've mentioned, I haven't made an attempt to get friendly with her, because I don't know what I'd do with her anyway. She seems to be neither afraid nor friendly and very slightly curious. She looks young to me. When I first saw her earlier this year, she barely looked old enough to have kittens. Originally, I was trying to get photos of the kittens because I suspected that the were young enough to be adoptable. They looked nothing like the mother. However, I couldn't get near them. As I mentioned, the kittens have disappeared. The cat is less wary now.
