The real question is,  how the hell did all those House and Senate seats get lost?  What did the Democrats do wrong between 2008 and 2010?

If 2014 is a repeat of 2010,  a lot of Tuesday's mojo will disappear and Obama's last two years will be a dismal experience.

      1) the economy went to shit.  It was so shitty that people could blame both Bush and the Democrats.  In 2012 the economy was good enough that people could blame just Bush for the residual suckage despite being 2 more years removed.

      2)  The Democrats failed to sell Obamacare to the American public.

successfully sell ObamaCare at that point.  Only after it survived the Supreme Court challenge was it possible to go all out selling it.  Plus the advantage of having some of its popular provisions go into effect.  In 2010, it was still too confusing and susceptible to the GOP propaganda onslaught.

But in any case, it probably would have been easier to sell if it hadn't been watered down and delayed. And I say that as a supporter of the president and ACA.
