    They are so focused on how to get constituencies like women, AAs, Latinos, LGT to think about Republicans in a certain way (i.e. through tricksy advertising or Luntz-approved buzz phrases, or single-issue pandering legislation, or putting totem candidates on the ballot) rather than face the truth that it is how THEY think about those constituencies that is the root of the problem.

      I read a Wall Street Journal "why Romney lost"  story Wednesday that quoted a GOP big name (I think it was Gingrich) as saying "we have to make the Republican party appear more acceptable to women and Hispanics." There are a number of problems with that statement but the biggest one, to my mind, is the word "appear." They don't want to actually change any of their Paleolithic positions but they want to fool those voters into thinking they have.
