    with the Des Moines Register did nothing to dispel any of it.

    He just told us that he also thinks he has a mandate to do it.

    Funny that.  Not funny at all.  Because all of it was wrapped up in flowery rhetoric about how he was going to help the little guy, make sure everybody plays by the same rules, and how he is a warrior president.  I'm pretty sure that if you polled the people of the U.S. today they would not say that they elected him to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.  I think they heard him pledge not to "slash" Social Security, interpreted it as him saying he wouldn't cut it at all, and extrapolated that to the entire safety net.  They did not expect their president to deceive them.

    I would put money on the fact that the vast majority of this country agrees with CoE -- that's not why they elected him (not that they had much choice in the matter about being betrayed).
