    that whole piece and the whole subject.  I think they might be talking about the blurry line between JSOC and the CIA now, and the fact that they are doing it more openly.  But you make some really good points there, el.

    I actually don't know enough about the history -- there are big chunks missing in what I do know.  For instance, I need to go back and read more about Iran Contra.  I get the feeling that it is going to be more and more relevant to current events.

      A doctrine of intentionally blurring lines that used to be stronger, at least in theory.

      Old objections to keeping the lines clear no longer have power in government. Doctrine can be cited to overrule the objections.
