    It was Ford VP James Couzens who came up with the $5 8-hour work day.  The idea was to be able to KEEP GOOD WORKERS, as they had over 100% turnover at the time.  Henry Ford didn't like the idea, but Couzens convinced him and the board.  

    Workers being able to afford the product was a happy side effect, but not the point.
