They want to follow the NRA model. They want to be able to strike such fear in the hearts of politicians, no one will dare cross them.
Even though gun and ammo sales went up after election, the NRA failed to achieve their objectives during the election:
Examination by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence of spending by the National Rifle Association in the 2012 elections showed that, of the $11.8 million spent to defeat President Obama and $3.4 million across six key Senate races — 88 percent of its federal independent expenditures — the gun lobby could claim no victories; all of its candidates lost.

    •  Their candidates may have lost (0+ / 0-)

But the fact that they were out there and so well-funded has a chilling effect.

Knowing that someone is ready and willing to make your election campaign a tough fight is not going to encourage anyone to deliberately kick the hornet's nest, so to speak.

And even though their candidates lost, they still won because gun sales are up.

C'mon, let's wait for, what, A WEEK?!? before we decide how "effective" this crap is gonna be going forward, 'kay?

This year, I'm doing something I've never done before - I'm voting a straight Democratic ticket

Just tally up all the Democrats who advocated any kind of gun control in this past election, look at party platforms, and what's happening at the state and local level where Democrats are in control. Take a look at all the states that now have concealed carry laws, or stand your ground statutes.

Yeah, the NRA is losing big time.

    •  They fought their own goals (0+ / 0-)

If you set out to wreck yourself, and don't, is that a failure or a success?

Obama has a more lenient record on gun rights than Romney, and they opposed him hysterically.
