First of all, why do you even care if people are talking about race? Why would it make you so uncomfortable as to complain about it?

Second, FDR, though he did many admirable things, produced blatantly racist programs which devastated the African American middle class, so I get very suspicious when white people start talking about how great he was. And I get very suspicious when white people start talking about how great the Democratic Party is since, until the late 1960s/early 1970s, it was the party that proudly sheltered the racists.

Perhaps, instead of trying to get people to stop talking about things that make you uncomfortable you should recognize how troubling it is that we live in a society in which only 39% of white people who voted actually voted for the president. Or that so many within the Democratic Party who are white also want to just forget the racist history of the Democratic Party. I would wager that those two issues are connected.

Time is of no account with great thoughts, which are as fresh to-day as when they first passed through their authors' minds ages ago. - Samuel Smiles
