  •  it has now become conventional wisdom that R's (4+ / 0-)

    are too hostile to non-whites (which is correct analysis), and R success from '68-'88 is being contrasted with R failure from '92-'12, but those are in fact related issues.

    R's had great success appealing to white racial and cultural resentment, after the civil rights movement, feminist movement, etc, but now that there are more non-whites and fewer resentful whites, that strategy is much less effective and is a liability in many places.

      strategic and tactical problems - if they want to replicate the success of the Southern Strategy - of finding a new set of scapegoats (teachers just won't do!) and a new set of code so gut-punching that voters forget about their pocket books.

      I'm thinking that's not gonna happen in post-BushCo/Great Recession America.
