  •  I think this election gives the moderates (6+ / 0-)

enough ammunition to stop the Tea Party from wagging the dog.

Basically, the moderates have a choice right now...continue to obstruct and embrace the Tea Party, or move to the center and push the right out into irrelevancy.

The results of the election, give them clear information with which to act on.  Just look at how Romney's numbers went up when he shifted to the middle.  Surely they cannot miss that message?

Question is, will they do it?

Look, I might as well be Alex Keating. I'm Whitey McCracker pants. For god sakes, I watch the Golf Channel. I like guns and money. But I checked out of the GOP before I was really ever in it. I grew up thinking Reagan was awesome, but by the time I was 18 I'd had quite enough of the fire breathers and happily voted for Clinton.

I had high hopes for McCain in 2000, but that was a foolish hope. When he got his big chance in 2008 he went out and promoted Palin to the national stage. Neverfuckingmind, dude. I'm happy that Steve Schmidt has been out trying to attone for that, but it's not nearly enough.

I have never voted Republican in a federal election, not once. I'd like that to change if for no other reason than one party rule is generally not a good thing. That's not going to happen soon. But at least for now we can get immigration reform and stop all this stupid, destructive, irresponsible debt ceiling/govt shutdown crap. And then there's that little matter of global warming.

Maybe we can get past that, at least. I certainly fucking hope so.

You can do whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America.
