    they count dollars. Repubs shouldn't even have the House, more voters voted for Democrats overall. Probably similar for many state legislatures, though I haven't seen that yet. Don't think that the right doesn't have more tricks. I'd expect that as a last-ditch effort, they move slightly toward the center, at least in public.

    I'd say the bottom line difference is most Democrats believe in public service, most Republicans see politics as a get-rich-quick scheme.

      They grabbed control of State Houses at just the right time, when the census was coming out. They'll be highly competitive in the House for the next 5-6 yrs, until the demographics get them at that level, too.

        Many of the current congressional districts look like a spider on some major acid tried to make a web. When the demographic shift pushes way out into the countryside, there will be nowhere left for them to bend the districts to keep them red or at least not sufficiently or reliably red.
