racists (that form the core of the Republican Party since the Southern Strategy) and religious fundamentalists that Reagan brought in is definitely unstable.  The religious fundamentalists are catching on to the fact that Republicans only cater to them for getting elected, they are starting to become uncomfortable with the rabid racist element (unless they are one of them), and the Republicans are having to resort to more and more attacks on Americans in order to satisfy these zealots (abortion was not sufficient, so they started the war on "teh gayz" and on immigrants, but - knowing that they had nothing more to offer at the altar of religious fundamentalists - they went all out with the War on Women for the last two years).

I am surprised that they have managed to hold the racist/fundamentalist coalitions together for this long, but we should never underestimate them - hatred is very destructive and very powerful, especially in a dying movement.

Then they came for me - and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.
