    I doubt they tell him exactly what to write, but I'm certain they tell him how to write it. For one thing, he refers to the candidates as "Mr. Obama," "Mr. Romney," etc. That's just Times style, but I'm sure if they tell him to leave personal politics out of it, he leaves them out of it. Especially at what the NYT no doubt pays.

        than partisanship, I should think. At any rate, 538 never had much slant to it even pre-NYT (which wasn't until the end of the 2010 election), so I doubt it's like they keep him on a short leash. He wasn't intending to use 538 as a lefty soapbox anyway.
