Corporate media isn't intended to provide any useful information. Even if people do speak truthfully in media, liars present counterpoint and we move on. No context is ever provided and media personalities in the "news" routinely repeat talking points - or narrative - as if it's the accepted truth. The given in the media is that we're headed for a cliff, repugs are ready to deal, and the only question is whether the president will now come up with the necessary entitlement reform proposals. Then right wing hacks take turns agreeing and speculating about which formula for "reforming" "entitlements" will prevail, since republicans, of course, just won a mandate...

when I see a republican on tv, I always think of Monty Python: "Shut your festering gob you tit! Your type makes me puke!"

    •  as absolutely silly as it sounds, (3+ / 0-)

one-to-one matters.  i'm one of those people that complete strangers feel free to talk to, so i've learned to use that in lines at the grocery store, post office, where ever.  the one-line bumper sticker type of stuff.  i can do a little dance when someone talking about Keystone by saying, in all shock and awe and innocence, "But what about the WATER?!   The chemicals pollute the WATER!" and sure enough, someone else says, "Yeah, the water lights on FIRE." and there ya go.  Fracking is bad.

again, i have no problem saying how silly what i do sounds.  i also have no problems saying it works, sometimes.

we are the media, plain and simple.

...exposed for the CON they've been spinning.  They got caught in their own web of lies about Romney's ability to win the election.  Facts and math (thanks Nate Silver) proved to be right (really?  Imagine that?)...now we need to  keep the heat on...facts are poised for a real comeback!...

Ignorance is bliss only for the ignorant. The rest of us must suffer the consequences.
