Penn and Ohio. Older demo's there and we can't let the Repub's get them.

    •  That was something that struck me during this race (4+ / 0-)

For as much as they proclaim Ohio a key to victory (even if it really wasn't this time) the state gets no real love from the national party in between presidential elections.  Republicans run unopposed up and down the ballot, and no money is put into even trying to make districts more purple and build Dem occasional voters into Dem guaranteed voters.  I would say that at the very least, half of the races on my ticket this year were Repubs running unopposed, including even the Congressional Representative race.  That's right, it took Boehner all of 1 vote to ensure his 're-election'.  That's political malfeasance on the part of both the state and national Dem parties.

They should be fighting, year after year, to build habits of, and pride in, Ohio Dems to get to the polls in every election.  But you're not going to be proud of a party that never even tries to win every election it possibly can.  At the very least, they should have just gotten what they needed to run candidates for every race, even if they expected to lose each and every one.

should include the local and grass roots. Ohio and Penn needs to be getting the working class versions of what those Castro Brothers are doing in Texas. Young, Progressives with great knowledge, power and passion to reach the youth. If not Ohio and Penn could easily cross over to Repub majority sooner than we know it. If we wouldn't have had Obama running in Ohio I don't think we would have won it. It came down to Cuyahoga and some other good numbers in bigger cities I believe.
