  •  Overall good letter. (0+ / 0-)

I'd just like to make a comment or 2, although some of it may have been covered up-thread. Since mentioning one specific fetal abnormality (Downs) caused such a stir, maybe a more generic reference, or a short list of some of the many developmental side roads an embryo can travel.
As for the parental notification, I like your summary, especially -remember there is a pregnant teenager. However, something I read a long while ago (too long for me to find a link, sorry); a clinic worker told of the trap behind these laws. While notification is on the books, there are no actual guidelines or rules to follow. Everyone in authority passes the buck so as not to be the one to give the OK. For instance, what to do if one parent is unknown to the child? How do you contact a deadbeat parent? These are left out deliberately as obstacles.
While as a parent I would love to be notified that my daughter needed me, that is up to me to keep those lines of communication open. For the girls who don't have that I am willing to risk not being told so that they all can have the help of a caring health professional, no matter how old they are.

    Oh for crying out loud!
