  •  Overriding the President? (21+ / 0-)

Civilians are SUPPOSED to be in charge of the military, not the other way around -- that's the way the Constitution is set up. If the civilians being shown around were (as sometimes was) members of Congress, that's fine.

What bothers me is the report that right-wing think tank folks -- not elected, not appointed, just self-appointed -- overriding orders that presumably come down from the Commander in Chief or the Pentagon. That's a shadow government overriding the real elected one -- highly dangerous, even, one might say, treasonous.

I don't think; unless it's "giving aid and comfort to the enemy."

However, there's got to be a name for going directly to the military and going around the Commander in Chief.

I sense lots of crawly things coming up from under rocks here...

    •  Shadow Government has been growing for a while (0+ / 0-)

it has several elements... Neo Cons, Dominionists and assorted Oligarchical interests/ALEC etc. that all have been coming into focus as they succeeded in gaining footholds and establishing influence and control.... And the War on Terror gained them so many additional areas to use for a power grab or just to accumulate more tools... and allow them to connect up and pool their resources.

And had Romney won...they would have been in an even stronger position to take more power...

Scary in so many many ways.... we are on the downslope to a new species of Fascism... still avoidable but getting far too close to the point of no return for comfort...
