We had 91% marginal tax rates and nobody called Ike a Socialist.  He warned about the M.I.C.

Back to the 50's (but with human rights)!!!

    •  Well Actually (5+ / 0-)

The John Birch Society (cf. Fred Koch father of the notorious brothers) called Ike a Communist.

You saw what Sarah Palin was reading and it wasn't "All of them, Katie".

      •  Well, NH just outlawed flouridated public water (0+ / 0-)

The JBS is now fully represented by the Heritage Foundation and its spinoffs (AFP, NOM, NRA, Cato, Heartland, Mackinac, Hate-radio, God-radio, Faux Noise, etc.) and the big money laundries (Bradley Foundation, Koch Foundation, etc.).

Most of all, these mentally ill people are writing laws through ALEC and the tax-exempt bribery of maleable right wing state legislatures. They are the American Taliban.

The JBS national HQ is located in Sen. Joe McCarthy's home town in Wisconsin. This is not a coincidence.

The "Ike is a Communist" CT originated in Wisconsin, BTW. The pamphlets that the JBS distributed are now classic examples of the paranoid CT style of thinking and writing. Lots of pithy quotes at the start of each chapter, a liberal sprinkling of random Biblical keywords, always the edge of the cliff, urgent, imminent catastrophe, and often more footnotes than text. The "Ike is a Commie" pamphlet is about 5 pages of text yet has over 300 useless footnotes and references. Many of their references actually debunk their points.
