    And he'll win, too - I don't have faith that enough people will turn out for a special election. And then Capuano would likely beat him in the general.

      MA dems learned several lessons after the Coakley debacle, not the least of which is that you don't win special elections with a lazy candidate/campaign. Capuano may not be "senatorial" enough for some, but he's a fighter, and he's got some of the best organizers in his corner should he win the primary. I think there's no time like the present to convert the momentum built up in the Warren campaign. And for those who are afraid of Scott Brown, why shy away from him now when his racist attacks on Warren have undermined the good guy image he had worked so hard to establish?

        ... it would be great if he appointed someone to fill the interim seat who would stand a good chance of getting elected. Capuano seems like a possible choice.

        An interesting scenario would also be for Gov. Patrick to appoint someone with no interest in running in a special election and then for Patrick to run for the senate seat.

        Who is Patrick's Lt. Governor?
