    •  I don't know how to HR? (0+ / 0-)

      enlighten me please

to be a trusted user, there will be a hide button to the right of your recommend button, and they will be round instead of square.  Hide rate (or HR) means you hit the hide button.  Don't do it unless you know when and why it is permissible.  When in doubt, don't do it.

        •  Is "hot button" really the "hide button"? (0+ / 0-)

What I have to the right of my "recommend" is marked "+ hot button" with the + in a circle. Is that it?

          •  No, that's the hotlist (0+ / 0-)

for diaries that you want to come back and refer to later.

The HR button will appear on any comment -- the bottom of the comment will look like this:

[ Parent | Reply to This |  Recommend   Hide ]
Parent and Reply to This are clickable links, and there are radio buttons (little empty dots) next to recommend or hide; they're called "radio buttons" because like on a radio you can only choose one.

For spam and troll diaries, it's become a tradition to hide rate the tip jar, to hopefully alert the admins or set the autoban into effect; you need to change your settings to be able to see hidden comments including hidden tip-jars. If you go to Edit Profile in your User Box (that's the one that's at the top right, with your name, avatar and such), you can find that option abut midway down the page under the box where you can add a comment signature (a little quote or something that attaches to all your comments -- I still need to change mine post election).
