allegations. And WH and Dept. of Justice say they knew about emails when they vetted him. A lot of the emails were to Allen's wife and he was just cc'd.

    •  denying what exactly (0+ / 0-)

only thing reported was inappropriate communication.

Adultery is a crime in the military.

I have no idea what "inappropriate communication" is. All I know is the "harassing emails" sent to Ms. Kelley were not all that harassing and were not a crime.

        •  did anybody accuse of him of an affair? (0+ / 0-)

because it seems to me that inappropriate email and lots of it that had to be investigated isn't normal.

not that he was having an affair but other matters were being discussed.

that should not have been discussed with her.

A senior Defense Department official said General Allen had denied having an extramarital affair with Ms. Kelley. But the official said the content of some of the e-mails “was of a flirtatious nature.”

“Some were of an affectionate nature,” the official said, adding that it was unclear whether the flirtatiousness expressed was from General Allen to Ms. Kelley, from Ms. Kelley to General Allen, or mutual.

“That is what makes the e-mails potentially inappropriate,” he said.

The official said that he had not read the e-mails, but had been briefed on the content, and that they did not contain anything inappropriate regarding operations or security.

I think it's a witch hunt and he will be exonerated.
            •  it's not a witch hunt so far as any evidence (0+ / 0-)

              has surfaced.

they had to investigate the evidence and that's the only evidence we have so far.

one investigation led to another, which had to be completed.  if there is nothing there then great.

but it had to be investigated.  so far NOTHING in this says witch hunt.

but there was obviously a few concerns that kept the investigation going until they were addressed.
