  •  Capital Gains tax (8+ / 0-)

needs to be made progressive in order to not hurt pensioners and small investors, but make the rich and mega-rich pay their fair share. Tax wealth, not work.

We also need to bring back tariffs in order to level the global playing field. We need massive, punitive taxes on nations that do not match our standards for the protection of workers, consumers, and the environment. And then we need to raise our own standards. Global trade should be about bringing peoples' standard of living up instead of a Race To The Bottom.

    •  Just tax it like any other income. (7+ / 0-)

at whatever bracket the person is in.

You can't keep a mighty tree alive (much less expect it to thrive) by only spritzing the fine leaves at its tippy-top. The fate of the whole tree depends on nurturing the grassroots. - Jim Hightower

      •  Agreed, but with a carve out for primary residence (5+ / 0-)

since most people made those purchases WITH that tax break in mind, and it would devastate the middle class not to have it.

Purging predominantly minority voters and requiring them to present IDs to vote in the face of VIRTUALLY NON-EXISTENT VOTER FRAUD is RACISM! I hereby declare all consenting Republicans RACISTS until they stand up and object to these practices!

        •  keep the current exclusion on home sales (0+ / 0-)

If you have owned and lived in your home for at least two years you get to exclude from taxable income the gain on the sale of your home, up to a quarter million profit for singles and half a million for married couples filing jointly.
